The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team will travel to Baton Rouge, La. for the 2019 NCAA Regionals, the NCAA announced on this afternoon's selection show. The team will compete in the first session on April 5, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. CT.

The No. 11 Golden Gophers will compete against No. 6 Utah, BYU and Arkansas as they look to earn a spot in the final day of competition. The current rotation schedule sees the Maroon and Gold rotating beam-floor-vault-bars.

The second session of the LSU regional will feature No. 3 LSU, No. 14 Auburn, Arizona State and the winner of the George Washington and Lindenwood dual meet on April 4.

The two highest-scoring teams from each session will move on to compete in a quad meet on April 6 that will see the top two teams moving on to the 2019 NCAA Championships taking place on April 19-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Earlier this season the Gophers faced both the Razorbacks and the Sun Devils in a quad meet setting. Minnesota edged out Arkansas on the last routine of the last rotation to move past them in the standing and claim the win at the Elevate the Stage quad meet in Birmingham, Ala., whereas ASU claimed the victory when both teams last met on Jan. 4 to open the season.

Minnesota looks to move on from Regionals to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2016 when the team finished 12th in the nation. To do so, the Gophers will have to upset at least one of the two teams seeded above them (Utah, LSU) for a chance to compete for the program's first national title.
