Fiser Earns Big Ten Plaudit

Amber Fiser has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the first time in 2019 and fifth time in her career, the conference announced Monday.
Fiser was near flawless all weekend in three complete game victories. She opened the weekend with a one-hit shutout over Drake mowing down 12 batters in the process. She followed it up by firing in a career high 13 strikeouts against Drake the following day and capped off the weekend with another 12 strikeouts against No. 19 James Madison. The first eight outs of the game against JMU were accounted for by Fiser strikeouts.
In 21 innings of work, Fiser finished the weekend with a 0.33 ERA and 37 strikeouts. She is currently fourth in the entire country with 96 strikeouts on the season is 14th with only 31 hits allowed in 64 innings. Fiser is 7-4 on the season with a 1.31 ERA.
The Van Horne, Iowa native joins Hope Brandner as Gophers to be honored by the Big Ten this season. Fiser has caught national attention this week as well receiving honorable performance mentions from Softball America and Justin's World of Softball.
