Gophers Head to Big Ten Championships

The postseason has arrived for the Minnesota women's golf team as the Gophers travel to TPC River's Bend for the Big Ten Championships this weekend. Competition over the three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,357 yard layout with 18 holes each day starting Friday.
Minnesota will send six golfers to the tournament in senior Muyu Wu, sophomores Kate Lillie, Grace Kellar, Joanne Free and Jessica Lee, and freshman Karen Zhang. The tournament will utilize the play-six, count-four scoring format to determine a team champion.
Of the Gophers making their return to Maineville, Free was the top finisher last year as she tied for 54th (77-74-78—229). Kellar was one stroke behind in a tie for 57th (78-79-73—230), while Wu was tied for 62nd (77-75-80—232) and Lillie tied for 80th (83-82-81—246).
Minnesota has placed a golfer in the top-10 in each of the last two years, with Sabrine Garrison and Emie Peronnin finishing seventh and third in 2018 and 2017, respectively.
