Three Signed Gophers Prospects Earn National Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Three signed Gopher Hockey prospects earned national honors this week as Bryce Brodzinski, Mike Koster and Jackson LaCombe were selected All-USA Boys Hockey First Team as selected by USA Today High School Sports. The trio of Maroon & Gold prospects made up half of this year's All-USA Boys Hockey First Team selections.
Brodzinski was also tabbed the All-USA Boys Hockey Player of the Year by the outlet, becoming the second Gopher Hockey prospect to collect the award after two-time selection Casey Mittelstadt.
A native of Blaine, Minn., Brodzinski tallied 36 goals and 55 assists in his final prep season at Blaine High School. The forward and senior captain led the Bengals to a third-place finish at the MSHSL Class AA state tournament this season. Brodzinski closed out his prep career as the 35th recipient of the Mr. Hockey Award (given to the top senior boys high school player in the state of Minnesota) and the 24th Gopher Hockey prospect to earn the honor. Brodzinski was ranked 89th among North American skaters in this week's NHL Central Scouting final rankings.
A native of Chaska, Minn., Koster led the state in scoring by a defenseman with 20 goals and 41 assists for Chaska High School. A two-year captain for the Hawks, he was this year's recipient of the Reed Larson award, given to the top senior boys hockey defenseman in the state of Minnesota, as well as a finalist for the Mr. Hockey Award. Koster was ranked 69th among North American skaters in this week's NHL Central Scouting final rankings.

The blue liner set a new program record for points by a defenseman with 89 points (22 goals, 67 assists) in 54 games.
