Cashman Drafted, Greene Signs, Carpenter and Moore Head to Minicamp

Cashman totaled 183 tackles, 31.0 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 48 career games.
University of Minnesota linebacker Blake Cashman was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft with the 157th overall pick by the New York Jets. Donnell Greene signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Emmit Carpenter (Chicago Bears) and Gary Moore (Cleveland Browns) will head to upcoming minicamps. Â
Cashman, who is from Eden Prairie, Minn., will graduate May 20 with a degree in Marketing. He played in 48 career games for Minnesota and totaled 183 tackles (116 solo), which included 31.0 tackles for loss (tied for seventh in school history) and 12 sacks (tied for 12th in school history). He started his career as a walk-on, but then received a scholarship from head coach P.J. Fleck prior to his junior season.Â
He started 11 of the 12 games he played in as a senior in 2018 and led the Gophers with 104 tackles. Cashman made 15 tackles for loss (tied for ninth in school history for a single season), broke up five passes, forced one fumble and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.
His senior season was highlighted by making four tackles for loss against New Mexico State (tied a TCF Bank Stadium record), a 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Purdue and 20 tackles (TCF Bank Stadium for a Gopher) against Northwestern. For his efforts, he was named All-Big Ten Second Team by the media and All-Big Ten Third Team by the league coaches.
Cashman was also named the 2016 Holiday Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player after making 12 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in a win against Washington State. He received the team's Gary Tinsley Award, which is presented to a player who best embodied the underdog spirit of the late former Gopher Gary Tinsley in 2016 and 2017. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week twice in his career and both times came after playing Northwestern in 2018 and in 2016. In 2018, he totaled a career high tackles against Northwestern and added a pass breakup, a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss. In 2016, Cashman made 10 tackles, notched two sacks and forced one fumble against Northwestern.Â
Greene spent three seasons at Minnesota after transferring from Coffeyville Community College. He played in 36 career games for the Gophers and started 29 of them. In 2018, he played in 11 games and started 10 at left tackle. He blocked for an offense that averaged 28.9 points per game (tied for second most in a season since 2005) and one that rushed for 23 touchdowns and threw for 20 touchdowns (first time since 2006 Minnesota reached 20 passing and rushing touchdowns in a season).
Carpenter made 53-of-67 career field goals  and his 79.1 field goal conversion rate ranks first in school history (minimum 25 attempts). His 53 career field goals ranks third in program history and he made 31-of-40 field goals at TCF Bank Stadium, 19-of-23 on the road and 3-of-4 in neutral-site games. Carpenter, who was the 2016 Big Ten Kicker of the Year, made 117-of-118 career point-after attempts (117 is second most all-time) and ended his career with 80 consecutive PATs (second most of all-time). He finished his career with 276 points, which ranks him second all-time in school history among kickers and all players.
Moore played in 33 games for the Gophers and helped anchor a defensive line in 2017-18 when he saw action in 25 games. Moore made 49 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also broke up two passes, forced two fumble and recovered one fumble in his career.Â
