Gophers Freshman Prepared for Fargo

Six members of the Gophers 2019 recruiting class are headed to Fargo, North Dakota, this weekend for the United States Marine Corps Junior Nationals.
Among those competing at one of the biggest youth freestyle events of the year include Marcos Polanco (138-pounds), Martin Wilkie (145), Sebas Swiggum (145), Cael Carlson (152), Baylor Fernandes (160), and Devin Winston (182).
The event takes place July 12-19 in the FargoDome with their competition kicking off Sunday, July 14. All action can be watched live on Flowrestling with a Pro subscription. All five Gophers will be competing in the junior men's freestyle section of the competition.
Carlson, a Minnesota native, won the 2018 Greco-Roman Fargo Championship at 145-pounds.
Polanco was a three-time California State Tournament participant and placed third at the Freakshow 2018 nationals in Las Vegas. Wilkie was a four-time Montana state champion and Fernandes is a two-time Illinois placer including a state title to cap off his career this past spring. Swiggum, an Apple Valley, Minnesota native, was a consistent high placer at the Minnesota State High School Tournament.Â
Finally, Winston, who placed fifth last year at the same weight, was a two-time Missouri state champion and finished his career ranked No.1 at 182-pounds by Flowrestling. Â
The group is joined in Fargo by head assistant coach Luke Becker.
