The University of Minnesota women's golf team will open its season with back-to-back home tournaments, highlighting the 2019-20 schedule announced by head coach Michele Redman Thursday.
"I am excited for the year to start and to see our student-athletes compete," Redman said. "We have a very competitive schedule this year and we're happy to again host two events featuring some of the best programs in the country. Our team will quickly be challenged and I look forward to seeing how we respond."
Play begins at the Minnesota Invitational on Monday, Sep. 9, with the two-day tournament returning to Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury. One week later, the best field in collegiate women's golf returns to the East Metro as the Gophers and Royal Golf Club play host to the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M. That tournament will feature 18 holes per day from Sep. 16-18.
Admission to both tournaments is free and fans are welcome to watch the action.
Minnesota's first travel comes the first weekend of October, traveling to the East Coast to take part in the Princess Anne Invitational in Virginia Beach, hosted by Old Dominion University from October 4-6. Two weeks later, the Gophers finish up fall play at the Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville (Oct. 18-20).
Spring tournament play begins on Monday, February 17 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., and the Gophers will cross the continent one week later to take part in The Gold Rush, a two-day event hosted by Long Beach State on Feb. 24-25.
Two weeks later, the Gophers return to the Golden State for the Juli Inkster Invitational at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif., hosted by San Jose State from March 9-10. The Gophers will then take part in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia from Mar. 20-22. A match play dual against Big Ten foe Iowa rounds out the regular season on the weekend of April 18 in Iowa City, before the Gophers travel to TPC River's Bend in Maineville, Ohio for the Big Ten Championship, contested April 24-26.
Postseason play continues with NCAA Regionals (May 11-13) and the NCAA Championships (May 22-27).
