Chelsey Brodt Rosenthal is the fourth Gopher alumna to sign with the NWHL for the upcoming season.
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota alumna Chelsey Brodt Rosenthal has signed a contract to return to the Minnesota Whitecaps for the 2019-20 season. A veteran member of the Minnesota Whitecaps organization, Brodt Rosenthal returns for her second season in the NWHL.
"My #1 fans are my family – especially my kids!" Brodt Rosenthal said in the NWHL's statement. "They love cheering on the Whitecaps. I play the game because I love it, and I can be a role model to other girls and boys."
Brodt Rosenthal helped the Whitecaps capture the Isobel Cup in their first season competing in the NWHL last year. She logged four assists in 16 games in the Whitecaps' inaugural season in 2018-19.
During her Gopher career from 2002-03 to 2005-06, Brodt Rosenthal recorded 43 career points on seven goals and 36 assists in 151 games. A defense from Roseville, Minn., she helped the Gophers advance to four-straight NCAA Frozen Fours and was part of back-to-back NCAA national championship teams, along with winning two WCHA regular-season and tournament titles, in 2004 and 2005. Rosenthal served as an assistant captain as a senior, helping the Gophers to a 29-11-1 overall record and an NCAA runner-up showing in 2005-06. She was a three-time WCHA All-Academic honoree.
