Gophers Fall in Three to Florida State

The No. 3 University of Minnesota fell, 3-0, to Florida State, today in Chapel Hill, N.C., to conclude the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Golden Gophers drop to 1-1 on the season.
FSU hit .250 to Minnesota's .182 and the Seminoles held a one-kill advantage at 43-42. FSU also out blocked the Gophers, 10-5 and established a 55-51 dig lead.
Minnesota was led by Alexis Hart, who had 14 kills, followed by Stephanie Samedy with 13. CC McGraw had a team-best 13 digs, while Kylie Miller added 36 assists and eight digs.
The Gophers look to rebound Wednesday night when they head to No. 4 Texas. Minnesota and the Longhorns play at 7 p.m. on FS1.
Set changing moments:
First Set: With the Gophers trailing by one at 9-10, FSU went on a 5-1 run to hold a 15-10 lead and maintained it throughout the first set. FSU hit .324 in the opening set to Minnesota's .206.
Second Set: Despite the Gophers holding a 24-20 lead, FSU stormed back to tie the set at 24-24. The Seminoles came back to win the set, 26-24 after they produced back-to-back blocks for the 2-0 lead.
Third Set: FSU led from the first point of the set and maintained control to complete the match win. Minnesota forced four match points and closed the gap to 24-21, but FSU finished off the match on a Gopher attack error for the sweep.
Noteables:
- Ellie Husemann made her collegiate debut when she came into the match in the second set. She also saw action in the third set.
- Shea Rubright also saw her collegiate debut tonight when she played in the third set.
