Groenewegen, Canada Qualify for Tokyo 2020

Former Gopher star Sara Groenewegen and Team Canada qualified for the 2020 Olympics with a 7-0 victory over Brazil on the final day of the WBSC Softball Americas Qualifier.
The only three-time All-American in Gopher softball history played a key role in Team Canada's run this past week. She went 2-1 with 11 strikeouts and a 0.70 ERA.
In her Gopher career Groenewegen was named the Big Ten Player, Pitcher (twice) and Freshman of the year and finished as the Gophers all-time strikeout leader with 1,214 in her career.

Helping Team Canada qualify for Tokyo 2020 caps off a strong season of softball for the former Gopher ace. Earlier this summer Groenewegen earned a silver medal at the Pan-American games. At the Pan-American games, Groenewegen dazzled with a perfect game in the opening round.
