LAKE ELMO, Minn. – Stormy skies gave way to a sunny afternoon Wednesday as the 2019 ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M drew to a close at Royal Golf Club. The tournament's co-host, Minnesota finished in 12th place (308-311-319—938) led by a second straight solid round from junior Kate Lillie.
Lillie (79-72-73—224) tied for 39th place at 8-over-par, the best finish by a Gopher at this event since joining the field in 2017. Freshman Annabelle Ackroyd (75-76-82—233) tied for 50th, while junior Joanne Free (75-83-82—240) and freshman Grace Curran (79-80-82—241) placed 58th and 59th, respectively. The fifth member of the Gopher lineup, freshman Emma Carpenter, did not participate in Wednesday's round due to illness.
Wake Forest (282-282-283—847) earned a 14-shot team victory, with the Demon Deacons' wire-to-wire leader, freshman Rachel Kuehn (67-67-69—203) earning medalist honors.
Notable
The start of Wednesday's round was delayed by two hours due to early-morning thunderstorms, forcing the shift of the format from tee times to a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
