MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team finished the annual Gopher Invitational today at Baseline Tennis Center and held a combined 41-6 record over the course of three days.

The Golden Gophers had a strong start, when they went 8-0 in doubles. Minnesota had doubles combos of Ekin Ercetin/River Hart, Tiffany Huber/Juliet Zhang, Isabella Lambert/Lucia de Santa Ana, and Tina Kreinis/Cammy Frei. During the three-day tournament, Minnesota went 21-3 in doubles action.

Minnesota concluded singles with a 7-1 combined record. The Gophers had at least one win in each of the championship rounds against Iowa, Iowa State, Drake, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Milwaukee, and Green Bay.

Notable:
Freshman Ekin Ercetin and Junior Juliet Zhang were the only two Gophers to go undefeated the whole weekend. They both posed an impressive 9-0 record.

Quotable:
"To get back on the courts, being in that competitive atmosphere and getting a chance to build and get better each day was what we were looking forward to," head coach Catrina Thompson said. "Only losing six  matches over three days is a very successful tournament for us."

Up Next:
Minnesota's next competition comes Oct. 17-22, when it competes at the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Okla.
