Gophers Prepare for Fall Ball
9/24/2019 3:51:00 PM | Softball
The University of Minnesota Gophers begin a three weekend fall ball stint against North Dakota State University this Saturday at 12 p.m.
The Gophers also host Concordia, St. Paul and St. Cloud State at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium this fall. All doubleheaders this fall are free admission.
The Gophers matchup with NDSU will be a rematch from the opening round of the Minneapolis Regional. Minnesota came out on top 3-0 on their way to a historic run. After earning the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament the Gophers went 5-0 in the Minneapolis Regional and Super Regional and advanced to the Women's College World Series for the first time in the NCAA era.
It is no surprise Minnesota is playing a quality opponent in NDSU for fall ball. Last season the Gophers played 22 games against teams that finished the year ranked in the NFCA top-25 poll and finished with a program record No. 7 RPI.
This year's roster features 13 returners and six newcomers. The six new faces include freshmen Sydney Strelow, Olivia Peterson, Delanie Cox and Kianna Jones. The Gophers also added transfers Brooke Vander Heide and Autumn Pease.
