The Minnesota men's gymnastics team hits the road again this weekend for the 50th Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill.
The event, hosted by UIC, is a perennial premier meet for college teams and the No. 7 Gophers will face off against No. 19 host UIC, No. 1 and reigning national champion Stanford, No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 Michigan, No. 8 Iowa and Northern Illinois.
"We're going to have a lot of guys in the lineup that weren't competing [last weekend in] Colorado due to sickness, injury, stuff like that, so we'll see a lot of fresh faces out there," sophomore and Aurora, Ill. native Matt Sullivan said. "We're excited, we obviously didn't have the meet we wanted last weekend, but we're on an upward trend and I think we're going to go out there and kill it."
The meet will be hosted at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago and is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Gophers will start on pommel horse, as they did last weekend. With seven teams competing on the day, there will be a bye rotation.
Minnesota is opening its 2020 season with the same two meets that it did last season, the Windy City Invite and the Rocky Mountain Open, and the team placed third at both. The Gophers again posted a third place finish in Colorado, with five gymnasts making their first regular season appearances.
"At the end of the day, it's easy to look at just the mistakes and think that it was a bit of a failure, and we had those moments. But I think overall it was a decent meet," head coach Mike Burns said. "It was a starting point, and the best thing about it is that we can go up."
Live scoring for the meet can be found via Road To Nationals, and fans can keep up with the Gophers' weekend on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Sophomore Mike Moran competed all-around for the Gophers and scored 77.900 for seventh place, and also registered career highs on floor (14.450) and rings (13.100).
Gophers in the Rankings

Kutyla and Moran both boast No. 3 ranks on high bar and floor, respectively, and junior Colton Dee is No. 9 on vault. Sullivan also found his way into the rankings following his first-ever regular season meet, and is currently No. 18 on pommel horse.
