When Adanna Rollins committed to the University of Minnesota as a sophomore in high school, she had a clear idea of what she wanted to accomplish. The Carrollton, Texas native wanted to compete with one of the best volleyball programs in the country, and earn both her bachelor's and master's degrees in just four years.

Some may think that's a lofty goal, but Rollins sees her academic aspirations both realistic and attainable. That drive to achieve in the classroom has always been there for her, especially with it being exemplified by her mother, Audra, in the education field. Audra, who holds a doctorate degree in education administration and is a program director for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Having academic achievement as such a significant part of the fabric of her family, Rollins was determined to make the most of this opportunity. She graduated high school early and joined the Gophers in January of 2018, a semester before her freshman year of eligibility. This allowed her to train with the volleyball team and garner college credits towards a business and marketing education degree. Rollins will receive her bachelor's degree in an impressive two and a half years this December.

Her on-the-court accolades also show her dedication to the game. A two-year, six-rotation starter for the Gophers, Rollins has been an AVCA All-American honorable mention, an All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten honoree and most recently the NCAA's Most Outstanding Player of the Austin Region where she helped lead the Gophers to a NCAA National Semifinal berth last year.

With two years of eligibility remaining, she's halfway there. Rollins will pursue a master's degree in leadership education, starting in January 2021. While she hopes to play professionally immediately after her collegiate career has ended, Rollins knows these degrees will help achieve her goals of working in broadcasting, coaching or athletic administration. Regardless of what career path she chooses, Rollin's academic preparation will give her the tools she needs to succeed. The sky's the limit.
