MINNEAPOLISAngus Flanagan is one of three members of the Minnesota men's golf program to appear in the latest PGA TOUR University rankings, it was announced Thursday. Flanagan comes in at No. 43, while Evan Long is ranked No. 267 and Thomas Longbella sits at No. 311.

According to its website, PGA TOUR University is a program designed to strengthen and elevate the path to the PGA TOUR through the Korn Ferry Tour, Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, PGA TOUR Latinoamérica and PGA TOUR Series – China. This program will reward elite collegiate play with varying levels of playing access to Tours operated under the PGA TOUR umbrella, while upholding the principles and virtues of collegiate athletics.

When the final rankings are revealed at the end of the NCAA Division I Golf Championship, the top five golfers will receive membership to the Korn Ferry Tour and will be exempt into all open, full-field events following the conclusion of the NCAA Championship through the conclusion of the Korn Ferry Tour regular season. The top five finishers will also be exempt into the Final Stage of that year's Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament.

In addition, finishers Nos. 6-15 will secure membership on one of the International Tours for the current season and a spot in the Second Stage of the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, if necessary.

The rankings are a combined effort from the PGA TOUR and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, covering both NCAA Division I men's golf events as well as PGA TOUR events. To be eligible for the rankings, golfers must complete a minimum of four years in college or complete three years with proof of early graduation.

Minnesota's first All-American in six years, Flanagan posted a 69.33 stroke average through five tournaments last fall. He tallied three top-10 finishes including medalist honors at the Macdonald Cup while also placing second at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate just over one week later.

In addition to his scoring average, the Woking, England, native led the Golden Gophers this fall in percentage of scores counted (96.7), rounds under par (11), tournaments leading the team (4), top-10 finishes (3) and top-20 finishes (3).

This summer, he has won medalist honors at the Western Amateur Championship, Minnesota State Open and Minnesota Golf Champions. He made his PGA TOUR debut at the 3M Open in July thanks to a sponsor's exemption following his win at the State Open.

Long had a scoring average of 72.41 last fall, ranking fourth on the team. He finished second to Flanagan at the Macdonald Cup and posted a career best round of 65 at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

Longbella ranked third on the Gophers last year with a 71.75 scoring average. He recorded a pair of top-15 finishes by coming in seventh at the Macdonald Cup and 15th at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. This summer, he won the 119th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship by a 10-stroke margin, one shot off the tournament record.
