Gophers Place Eight at Don Parker Open

On Saturday in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, eight Gophers earned spots on the podium at the Don Parker Open. As a team the Maroon and Gold recorded 13 pins and had well over 20 total bonus point victories. 

Cael Carlson and Baylor Fernandes took home the titles at 157 and 165-pounds respectively. Carlson recorded four consecutive pins of his own to start the tournament while Fernandes had a pair to start his day.

Sebas Swiggum also made his way to the finals with four straight major decisions but dropped the championship bout to finish in second place.

Both Jake Hageman and Nathan Fuller made their way into the bronze medal match in their first action of the season for Minnesota. Hageman took home third while Fuller medically forfeited out of the bout. 

In addition to Hageman, Jake Bergeland and Rowan Morgan also earned third place finishes.Bergeland clinched the spot with a technical fall while Morgan ended things early with a pin. 

Rounding out the bunch was Kevin Meicher earning a fifth place finish on Saturday in Eau Claire.
