MELBOURNE, Fla. -Ā The Minnesota women's golf team saw improvement in the final round as the Moon Golf Invitational drew to a close on Tuesday afternoon at Duran Golf Club.

The Gophers (290-311-305—906) placed 15th after the day started with the resumption of the second round after darkness forced a halt to play late Monday.

Leading the way for the Maroon and Gold was freshman Grace Curran (72-77-73—222), who tied for 41st place, the best tournament finish and 54-hole score in her nascent career. Junior Grace Kellar, who had the low Gopher round of the tournament at 2-under-par 70 Monday, placed 62nd (70-79-78—227). Classmate Kate Lillie was tied for 72nd (73-81-77—231), while freshmen Annabelle Ackroyd (75-84-77—236) and Emma Carpenter (88-74-80—242) tied for 81st and 86th, respectively.

Ole Miss won the team title with a score of 858, while Furman's Natalie Srinivasan was the medalist at 10-under-par 206.

Quotable
"We had a great start to the event. We need to continue to work on the things we are currently working on and just play more. It was our first event on grass other than the dual match and first 36-hole event of the spring. We have lots to learn from this event to take to Long Beach next weekend." – Michele Redman, head coach

Notable
Kellar's 70 on Monday was her low round of the year and two off her previous career low of 68, achieved during the 2018 Minnesota Invitational at Prestwick Golf Club.

Up Next
The Gophers travel to California for The Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State. The two-day tournament at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach begins next Monday, February 24.
