Minnesota Wins on Senior Day

The Gophers honored their six seniors prior to Saturday's win over Minnesota State.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Head coach Brad Frost recorded his 400th career coaching win as the No. 3 University of Minnesota women's hockey team wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season with a 3-0 win over Minnesota State at Ridder Arena on Saturday evening.
Minnesota (25-5-3, 17-5-2-1 WCHA) was led by Sarah Potomak's two-point effort (1g-1a) and got goals from Grace Zumwinkle and Amy Potomak as well. Sydney Scobee made 24 saves in her eighth shutout of the season. Minnesota State (11-18-6, 4-16-4-3 WCHA) received 37 saves from Calla Frank.
With the win, Frost's career coaching record stands at 400-75-34. His 400 career wins land him fifth among all-time NCAA national collegiate women's hockey coaches.
The Gophers honored their six seniors prior to Saturday's win over Minnesota State: captain Patti Marshall, assistant captain Alex Woken, Kippin Keller, Sarah Potomak, Katie Robinson, and Sydney Scobee.

"Really good weekend here overall, another solid game today," Frost said. "Scobee was really good, and we were able to get a goal every period. It was fantastic; I thought we used time and space well, possessed the puck, and had a lot of good chances. Overall a really good night and good weekend. We're excited about getting into the playoffs and starting finals season, so to speak. We know we will have to play well if we want to continue to advance."

With the win, Minnesota is still in contention to earn a share of the 2019-20 WCHA regular-season title. Top-seed Wisconsin closes out its regular season against Minnesota Duluth at 2:07 p.m. CT Sunday. A Bulldog win would leave Minnesota and Wisconsin tied in the WCHA regular-season standings with 54 points apiece. The Badgers own the tie-breaker against the Gophers and have already secured the No. 1 seed in the WCHA postseason.
