Gophers Place Two in Top 10 at The Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - Two Minnesota freshmen led the way with top-10 finishes as the Gopher women's golf team placed seventh at The Gold Rush, which concluded Tuesday at Old Ranch Country Club.
Freshman Annabelle Ackroyd (73-74-73—220) tied for 7th place at 4-over-par, with classmate Grace Curran (71-77-73—221) one shot back in a tie for 10th. It is the highest finishes of the year for both.
The junior duo of Kate Lillie (75-788-77—230) and Grace Kellar (77-80-77—234) finished tied for 34th and 43rd, respectively, with the latter joined by sophomore Karen Zhang (80-80-74—234).
Nearby, at the Prospector Invite at El Dorado Golf Club, Gophers junior Jessica Lee tied for fifth (75-80-79—234) in a field comprised entirely of individual competitors.
Georgia ran away with the team title with a 23-shot victory (287-295-281—863), with the Gophers placing seventh (296-309-297—902). It is the team's best finish of the season to date. The Lady Bulldogs' Celeste Dao (71-70-68—209) earned a one-shot victory over teammate Caterina Don to claim medalist honors.
