Four Gophers Earn Bids, Eight Total Headed to NCAA Championships

3/10/2020 2:10:00 PM | Wrestling

Eight total Gophers will be competing at the 2020 NCAA Championships next week in Minneapolis after the NCAA announced at-large bids for Patrick McKee, Bailee O'Reilly, Owen Webster, and Hunter Ritter.

McKee and O'Reilly will participate in the championships for the first time while Ritter will have the experience for the third time in his career, but first in Maroon and Gold. Webster has experience at the Division-III level as an All-American for nearby Augsburg, but this will be his first time at the top.

The at-large selections are based on the following criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking and conference tournament finish.

Those four join Mitch McKee, Brayton Lee, Devin Skatzka, and Gable Steveson who all automatically qualified this weekend with their placements at the Big Ten Championships.

Brackets will be revealed Wednesday night at 5pm CT during the NCAA Selection Show.

The championships, which run from March 19 - 21, will be held at US Bank Stadium just across the river from campus. It will mark the first time the event has been held at a stadium and attendance records are expected to be set.
