Meyer Dubbed B1G Pitcher of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS – Junior right-handed pitcher Max Meyer has been named the Big Ten Conference Pitcher of the Week on the heels of his dominant performance against North Carolina at the CambriaCollegeClassic on Friday night.
En route to earning his second career Pitcher of the Week award and third overall Big Ten weekly honor, Meyer simply dominated the Tar Heels at U.S. Bank Stadium. Meyer tossed a complete game victory against North Carolina, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out a career high 14 batters.
So far this season, the Gopher ace is the proud owner of a 2-1 record and 2.75 ERA through 19 2/3 innings pitched. Meyer has already struck out 31 batters on the year, good for an unearthly 14.2 K/9, while holding opposing hitters to a .159 batting average.
Thanks to Meyer's Friday night performance, the Gophers now possess signature victories against North Carolina, TCU, Arizona and Oregon already in 2020.
Meyer is next scheduled to pitch this upcoming Friday against Utah in game one of a three game series at U.S. Bank Stadium.
