MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota junior Angus Flanagan has been named a member of the Division I PING Midwest All-Region team for the second straight season, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.

Flanagan is ranked 29th in the Golfweek Men's Collegiate Individual Rankings, as he posted a 69.33 stroke average through five tournaments in the fall season. He tallied three top-10 finishes including medalist honors at the Macdonald Cup while also placing second at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate just over one week later.

In addition to his scoring average, the Woking, England, native led the Golden Gophers this fall in percentage of scores counted (96.7), rounds under par (11), tournaments leading the team (4), top-10 finishes (3) and top-20 finishes (3).

Flanagan went 2-0 in the Big Ten Match Play event in early February before the spring season was halted on March 12, 2020, when the Big Ten and NCAA announced they were ceasing competitions and championships because of COVID-19 public health concerns.

Now a two-time honoree, Flanagan becomes just the sixth golfer in program history to be a multi-time all-region selection. Bronson La'Cassie was a four-time all-region pick during his career and Erik Van Rooyen garnered three such honors, while Jose Mendez, Ben Pisani and current head coach Justin Smith all join Flanagan with two placements on the team.
