Fiser Garners Academic All-America Honor

Amber Fiser was named a 2020 First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for her athletic and academic dedication, the organization announced Thursday.Â
Fiser is the ninth softball student-athlete to receive Academic All-American honors in program history and just the third ever First Team selection. Erica Meyer last earned First Team honors in 2015 and Kathy Casull earned the distinction in 1989.Â
Fiser joins football's Blaise Andries and Sam Renner, who both earned Second Team, as Academic All-Americans for gopher athletics in the 2019-20 academic year. She and teammate Natalie DenHartog each earned First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.Â
The Van Horne, Iowa native graduated with a 3.66 GPA and earned her undergraduate degree in Business and Marketing Education.Â
Fiser, who will be returning for the 2021 softball season, is fifth in program history with 82 career wins and fifth in strikeouts with 811. She was a 2019 First Team NCAA All-American, Honda Cup Award Finalist and was named the 2019 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree and has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors three times.Â
