Gophers to Take Part in Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team will travel to the East Coast for an early season test as part of the 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun, announced Thursday. Joining the Gophers in the Naismith Bracket are Rhode Island and Marquette along with the Maroon and Gold's first opponent, UCF.
Minnesota will meet the Golden Knights on Saturday, November 21 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and will face either the Rams or Golden Eagles in the championship or consolation game the following day.
"We are looking forward to bringing our team to Mohegan Sun in November for the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off," said Gophers head coach Richard Pitino. "Every year it's a great event that partners one of the iconic institutions in our sport with some of the best teams in the country, and we're extremely excited to be a part of it."
In addition to the games in Connecticut, the Gophers will host two opponents from the tournament's Springfield Bracket at Williams Arena. Minnesota welcomes Albany on Wednesday, November 11, and will play host to Long Island on Tuesday, November 17.
