St. Michael, Minn., native Mitch McKee wasted little time in establishing his reputation with the Maroon and Gold. As a freshman in 2016-17, he began his career with four straight bonus point wins, including two falls. He led Minnesota in pins as a freshman and sophomore and ranked second as a junior.
In his final season with the Gophers, McKee rattled off five straight pins from November 9-17. That total ranks sixth in school history. His streak began at the Bison Open as he earned the 141-pound title with falls in the semifinals and final round. He needed just 16 seconds to claim the crown.
In Minnesota's home dual against Rider, McKee used just 40 seconds to earn the win. He added two more falls a week later as he won another title at the Daktronics Open.
Notable: McKee finished his career with 33 career pins, a total that ties him with four-time All-American Jared Lawrence, for 12th in school history.
