Bateman was a semifinalist for the award last season

University of Minnesota receiver Rashod Bateman was named to the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list today by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the prestigious award.

Bateman was one of 12 semifinalists for the award last year. He was the only Big Ten player who was a semifinalist and was one of only three sophomores as well. He was also named the Big Ten's Richter–Howard Receiver of the Year in 2019 and was named All-Big Ten First Team and AP Third-Team All-America.

Bateman has caught at least one pass in all 26 games he has played in and has made 111 receptions for 1,923 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has seven 100-yard receiving games and set multiple freshman and sophomore school records in the Maroon and Gold. Last season, he caught 60 passes for 1,219 yards (second most in a single season) and 11 touchdowns (tied for second most in a single season).
