Gopher great sealed the win at Maryland in 2016 with a pick-six

Antoine Winfield Jr., had a historic season in 2019 when he was named a Unanimous All-American and was also the Big Ten's Defensive Back of the Year. He ended the year with 88 tackles (62 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss (3.0 sacks) and tied a school modern era record with seven interceptions.

One of those interceptions was returned 33 yards for a touchdown at Rutgers. It was his third career touchdown (who could forget this?) and the second pick-six oh his career. His first came during his freshman season in 2016 at Maryland when he returned an interception 82 yards to seal the win against the Terps. It was the fifth longest interception return in school history and portended his future career stardom.

Winfield finished his career with 177 tackles (126 solo) and made seven tackles for loss and four sacks. In addition to being named an All-American and All-Big Ten First Team in 2019, he was also one of five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Award, which is presented annually to the best defensive player in the nation.

He also thrived in the classroom, as he was named Academic All-Big Ten three times, was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2018-19 and was also CoSida Academic All-District in 2019.

Winfield was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be a rookie during the upcoming season.
