Quarterback lands on annual watch list for Wuerffel Trophy
Tanner Morgan was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List earlier this week.Â
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as "College Football's Premier Award for Community Service," is presented annually in Fort Walton Beach. Named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
Morgan, who was All-Big Ten Second Team last year, and set school single-season records for passing yards (3,253), touchdown passes (30), completion percentage (66.0%), passing yards per game (250.2), touchdown-interception ratio (4.28) and pass efficiency rating (178.7) in 2019.
Morgan, who is deeply-rooted in his faith, is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten performer and is actively involved in Minnesota's charitable efforts, which span from visits to Masonic Children's Hospital to the team's annual Turkey Drive. Morgan has also built many personal one-on-one relationships with young cancer patients.Â
