MINNEAPOLIS – The three members of the Minnesota men's golf program in action this weekend at the 3M Open saw their tournament runs come to an end Friday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.

With the cut line a 2-under-par, Tom Lehman finished one stroke back at 1-under, while Erik Van Rooyen was 1-over and current Gopher Angus Flanagan was four-over.

Flanagan shot a 2-over 73 for the second straight round to finish his PGA Tour debut. Starting on the back nine, he was even-par through his first nine holes as birdies on the 12th and 15th holes helped cancel out bogeys on 11 and 13. He posted six pars in a row after making the turn but finished with bogeys on two of the final three holes.

"Overall, it's just a learning experience for me," Flanagan said after his round. "I'm not too disheartened. Bogeyed my last hole again today, but at the end of the day, it's like I'm playing against the guys I've always looked up to. I played with Tom Lewis, who's a fellow English guy. Seeing how he plays the game and he's ranked ‑‑ I think he's top‑70 in the world, so there's not too much difference between my game and his game, but at the end of the day he just holed a couple more putts than I did and easily made the cut, so that was good to see."

Flanagan also noted there is plenty he can take back to the Gophers as he looks ahead to a senior season with the Maroon and Gold.

"Just kind of stick with what I'm doing," he explained. "Kind of seeing this makes the dream come true, kind of makes it more real for me, and then seeing what these guys get and everything like that, it definitely, it's going to push me to keep practicing and doing what I'm doing every day because I'm definitely seeing improvements in my game."

Following an even-par 71 Thursday, Lehman did one better with a 1-under 70 Friday. A birdie on No. 3 moved him into the red until he sandwiched bogeys around another birdie on No. 12. He finished his round on a positive note with a third birdie on No. 18 to finish under par for the day and tournament.

Van Rooyen bounced back from a 3-over 74 in the opening round with a 2-under 69 in round two. He was up and down on the front nine going birdie-bogey-bogey-birdie-bogey between the third and seventh holes, but he rebounded on the back nine. A birdie on the par-four 10th was followed two holes later with another birdie to get under par. A bogey on the 16th put him back at even-par but he finished the day strongly with birdies on the final two holes.
