University of Minnesota guard Marcus Carr announced Friday that he will withdraw from consideration for the NBA Draft and return to the Gophers this season. The rising junior is coming off an All-Big Ten debut season in Maroon and Gold.

"After careful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the NBA Draft," Carr explained. "I am excited to rejoin my Gopher teammates soon and get ready for the upcoming season. I am thankful for all those who provided feedback and guidance during this process. Additionally, I am dedicating this season to my brother Duane Notice."

Carr, who starred in the Maroon and Gold after transferring from Pittsburgh and redshirting the 2018-19 season, set new single-season program records with 207 assists, including 130 dimes in conference play. He wrapped up the season second in the conference and ninth nationally with 6.7 assists per game, and tied for second with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.5.

"We are excited that Marcus is returning after testing the waters," said head coach Richard Pitino. "I believe he is one of the best point guards in the country and is ready to have a terrific junior year. His leadership is vital in our program and in our locker room."

The Toronto, Ontario native led the conference in minutes played, starting every game and averaging nearly 37 minutes of court time per contest. Carr also ranked second on the Gophers, scoring 15.4 points per game. He had 24 games with double-digit scoring including eight 20-point outings and four double-doubles. Carr was recognized in March with third-team All-Big Ten accolades by the conference media vote.
