Gophers Receive 2019-20 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota women's soccer program has been named a 2019-20 Team Academic Award winner, as announced by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday.
The USC Team Academic Award honors high school and college soccer programs that display exemplary performance in the classroom. In order for a college program to qualify for the award, the entire team must post a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2019-20 academic year.
Collectively, Minnesota has now met that requirement and won a Team Academic Award in 15 of the past 17 seasons. The Gophers represent one of 889 college programs to receive the accolade for 2019-20, including one of 333 collegiate women's programs.
Thursday's announcement marks yet another tremendous academic achievement for the Gopher Soccer program in 2020. In the Spring 2020 semester, the team produced a program-record team GPA of 3.78. On top of that, seven women's soccer players were named Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars in July: Ana Aguado, McKenna Buisman, Arianna Del Moral, Athena Kuehn, Makenzie Langdok, Delaney Stekr and Patricia Ward.
With a 2019-20 Team Academic Award in hand, the Gophers will look to continue their impressive streak of success in the classroom throughout the Fall 2020 semester.
