Senior put on scholarship by coach Richard Pitino

University of Minnesota guard Hunt Conroy was put on scholarship this week, Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino announced today.

Conroy has played in nine career games – totaling 11 minutes – and has scored three points and grabbed one rebound. He has played in three games this season as Minnesota is 11-5 and ranked No. 21.

"Hunt has been in our program for a couple of years and he has been phenomenal," said Pitino. "He is a great kid who wants to be a coach. He has been great academically and has been a great teammate. He deserves it. At the end of the day if you can reward a guy in your program – like we have done in the past – we want to do that. I am happy for Hunt. He has been a great member of our team and our program."

Conroy scored two points against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 23, 2017 and made one free throw against Nebraska on March 8, 2020. His lone career rebound came against Kansas City this season on Dec. 10, 2020.

The New Orleans, La., native has already received a bachelor's degree in business and marketing education and is currently obtaining a master's degree in youth development leadership.
