Gopher Men’s Gymnastics Eye Jan. 30 Start to 2021 Season

The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team is set to participate in a total of six conference meets over the course of the 2021 season the Big Ten Conference announced earlier this week. Listed meet times and dates still may be subject to change. There will also be a virtual meet added to the schedule for the Gophers on Feb. 20 against a non-conference opponent with more details coming at a later date.
Minnesota's current six meet conference schedule is the only one within the conference to begin on Jan. 30, with all other Big Ten programs beginning their conference schedules on the weekend of Jan. 22 while the Maroon & Gold serve their bye week. All Big Ten teams also plan to have a two week break period over the weekends of Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 for student-athletes that are preparing for and competing in the 2021 Winter Cup. The Gophers' schedule consists of a three-three split of home and away meets, with home meets taking place at the Maturi Pavilion.
Minnesota will start their season at home with a matchup against Iowa on Jan. 30 at 6 pm, followed by a pair of road meets at Ohio State Feb. 7 at noon CST and at Nebraska Feb.13 at 2 pm. Following the two week Winter Cup break period, the Gophers will host Penn State on Mar. 6 at noon before traveling to Michigan for the team's final meet on the road on Mar. 14 at noon CST. Minnesota will then close out their 2021 season at 4 pm on Mar. 22 at home against Illinois.
At this time, Big Ten Championships are expected to be held on Saturday, April 3 with the NCAA Selection Date taking place on April 6. Locations for both of these events will be announced at a later date, with formatting and dates remaining fluid at this time as well.
