McLaughlin Named B1G Third Star

McLaughlin is tied for third in the nation in assists and fifth in the nation in points.
MINNEAPOLIS – Senior forward Blake McLaughlin has been named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after helping the No. 4 Gopher men's hockey program to a weekend sweep over Mercyhurst at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
The Anaheim Ducks prospect currently leads Minnesota in scoring and is tied for the Big Ten scoring lead with five points (one goal, four assists). McLaughlin is tied for third in the nation in assists and fifth in the nation in points.
A native of Grand Rapids, Minn., McLaughlin notched three points (one goal, two assists) in Friday's 7-4 win over the Lakers and followed up with two assists in Saturday's 5-3 finale. Minnesota is now 16-1-2 all-time when the senior forward records multiple points in a game.
In 105 career games with the Maroon & Gold, McLaughlin has 77 points (26 goals, 51 assists).
