MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished in fifth place at the Pat Bradley Invitational, which concluded Monday at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club in Lakewood, Florida.Ā

The Gophers (286-295-303--884) were led by Joanne Free (72-71-71--214) who recorded a career-best finish in a tie for fifth place at 2-under par.Ā

"We weren't our best today," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Things we did well in round one and two, we did poorly today. Our par-3 score was the worst in the field, so we definitely need to clean that up before the next event. Joanne had a great event, she gave herself a win and that's always fun."

After Free, Minnesota's next top finisher was junior Grace Curran who carded a 78 in the final round to tie for 14th (70-71-78--219). Geraldine Wong was three strokes behind Curran in a tie for 25th at 7-over par (70-77-76-223).

Leah Herzog recorded her best finish in a Gophers uniform as she tied for 42nd in the event (74-76-78--228). Junior Emma Carpenter placed in a tie for 63rd (76-81-77--234) to wrap up the Gophers lineup.Ā

Boston College earned the tournament's team title with a 3-over score of 867 (286-285-296). Florida International followed in second place at 5-over and James Madison finished in third one stroke behind. Individually, Florida Gulf Coast's Haley Yerzxa won the title at 4-under par.Ā

Minnesota closes out the fall season next week at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Kentucky on October 25-26.Ā
