MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's cross country team earned yet another top-10 seed in this week's USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll, coming in at No. 6, as was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday's sixth place ranking marks the sixth straight week with Minnesota featured amongst the top ten teams in the nation, dating back to the final poll of the 2020-21 season where they claimed fifth after finishing in the same spot at the 2021 NCAA Championships.

For the second straight week, the women were ranked highest in the Big Ten Conference, leading Michigan (eighth), Michigan State (17th), Wisconsin (26th), Illinois (RV) and Indiana (RV).

Regionally, the women once again held the top spot in the Midwest region, edging out Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Illinois and Missouri in second through fifth, respectively. This week's poll marks the ninth straight week that Minnesota has held the top spot, the first of which came at the start of the 2020-21 season.

The Gopher men moved up in this week's regional rankings as well, moving into the fourth spot in the Midwest region and surpassing Big Ten rival Illinois. They follow Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Tulsa in the top three spots, and lead No. 5 Wichita State.

The Gophers will take a break from competition this week, with their next taste of action coming at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 15. Start time for the women's "A" race is slated for 12:20 p.m., with the men's "A" race to follow at 1:00 p.m.
