Stephens Ties Single-Game Interception Record
Sandy Stephens tied the school record with three interceptions on defense as Minnesota defeated Wisconsin, 26-7, in Madison to clinch the program's seventh national title.
The team was selected national champion by four NCAA-designated major selectors in Associated Press, Football News, National Football Foundation, and UPI/coaches. Both Minnesota and Ole Miss were consensus national champions.
