Minnesota Falls Short Against Oklahoma in Battle 4 Atlantis Finale

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota (4-3, 0-0 B1G) fell to Oklahoma (5-1, 0-0 Big 12) in the final game of the first women's Battle 4 Atlantis by a score of 88-69 on Monday night in the Bahamas. Deja Winters and Jasmine Powell finished with a team-high 18 points in the loss.
Oklahoma used runs throughout the game to pull away from the Gophers. An 8-0 run in the first, paired with a 10-3 run to end the quarter, put Oklahoma up big, 27-14, by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter Minnesota was able to respond, winning the quarter 16-14 against the Sooners with Winters scoring seven in the period to finish with nine first-half points. Minnesota used a 16-3 run to end the half to end the first 20 minutes down 41-30.
The third quarter Minnesota battled back, pulling to within five before Oklahoma regained its 11-point halftime lead by the end of the quarter. Winters once again dropped seven points in the period to pace the Minnesota offense.
The fourth quarter saw the Sooners score a game-high 28 points to outscore Minnesota by eight. Oklahoma got 12 points from Taylor Robertson, hitting four threes to close out the Gophers 88-69.
Gadvia Hubbard scored a season-high 11 points in the loss, hitting three shots from beyond the arc off the bench. The team shot 23-of-57 (40.4 percent) from the floor in the game and 8-of-19 (42.1 percent) from the 3-point line.
The Golden Gophers return to action on Nov. 26, when Bradley comes to Williams Arena. The game, which starts at 3 p.m., can be streamed on B1G+ and can be found on KFAN+ with Justin Gaard and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.
