Head coach Brad Frost is pleased to welcome two new student-athletes to the Gopher women's hockey program.

MINNEAPOLIS – Head coach Brad Frost and the Golden Gopher women's hockey team are pleased to announce the addition of two incoming student-athletes for the 2022-23 season. Allie Franco and Madison Kaiser make up the newest class of Gophers.

"We are so happy to have Allie and Maddie signing with our team," said head coach Brad Frost. "They are the type of players, people and families that we want involved with our program.  Both of them value their education, hockey and being a part of something bigger than themselves, the Gopher Women's Hockey program."

Allie Franco, Forward/Defense, Hill-Murray (Oakdale, Minn.)
A left-handed forward/defense, Allie Franco joins the Gophers from Hill-Murray. She was named all-conference all four years with the Pioneers and was named as an honorable mention on the 2020-21 All-State team. Franco was invited to USA U15 National Camp, USA U18 National Camp, and USA U18 Festival. The multi-sport athlete was named all-conference in softball as well. Franco brings exceptional leadership qualities to the Gophers, as she was named captain on both her hockey and softball teams.

Frost on Franco: "Allie has the opportunity to play either forward or defense. She sees the ice really well and has great skill, which will benefit her at either position."

Franco on Why Minnesota: "I chose the Gophers because it has always been a childhood dream of mine to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. From the education, campus, Ridder Arena, and great coaches, it was an easy decision to continue my hockey career and education at the U of MN."

Madison Kaiser, Forward, Holy Family (Ham Lake, Minn.)
A left-handed forward from Ham Lake, Minn., Madison Kaiser joins the Gophers from Holy Family Catholic High School. Prior to her time at Holy Family, Kaiser played for Andover High School. With the Huskies, she won the 2019 MSHSL state title alongside current Gopher freshman Peyton Hemp. Kaiser was a member of the U.S. women's U18 team in 2021 and was named captain at Holy Family for her senior season.

Frost on Kaiser: "Maddie is a 200-foot player that plays with great passion and intensity. She loves to get to the net and play in the tough areas. Her game will translate very well to the college game."

Kaiser on Why Minnesota: "I choose the U for both its strong hockey tradition and the welcoming coaching staff. They cared for me as a person, not just about hockey. Also, Minnesota is home!"
