Minnesota is set to play 30 home games in 2022
MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball program has officially announced their schedule for the upcoming 2022 season.
The Gophers will partake in 27 non-conference games, an exhibition against the Minnesota Twins and a full 24-game Big Ten schedule.
"After all the uncertainty and loss of games over the last two seasons, announcing a normal schedule of games for the 2022 season is great news for our players and fans," said head coach John Anderson.
Minnesota is set to play 12 non-conference home games at U.S. Bank Stadium in February and March before playing 18 contests at Siebert Field in April and May. Of those 18, 12 games are a part of weekend series' against Big Ten opponents (Maryland, Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern).
The 2022 schedule features 30 home games, 20 away games and two games at neutral sites. To begin the year, Minnesota will play four games at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. (Feb. 18-21). After that they'll play a midweek game at Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 23) before playing the Minnesota Twins in an exhibition on Feb. 25 in Fort Myers, Fla. The Gophers will conclude their trip in Florida on Feb. 26-27 with two contests against Indiana State (also in Fort Myers).
"The non-conference schedule represents some outstanding competition that will provide our players the necessary challenges and growth for success in the Big Ten Conference," Anderson said. "I invite you to join our team during this 30 game home schedule. Help us fill the stadium and create a fun-filled environment each time we take the field. Your presence gives us an important home field advantage, so players and fans alike can experience the excitement of Golden Gopher baseball. Together, we can make the 133rd season of Gopher baseball a special one."
