Minnesota Produces Impressive Showing at Briar’s Creek Invitational

The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished ninth overall out of 18 teams at the Briar's Creek Invitational. The two-day, 56-hole tournament suspended play on Monday with a few holes left in round two, which were completed along with the third round on Tuesday. The Gophers carded 899 (+35) as a team. The 291 shot in the final round by the team is the program's best 18-hole score since the spring of 2019.
Notable
Minnesota recorded 32 birdies and were second in the field with three eagles over the course of three rounds.
Senior Joanne Free led the Gophers, shooting a 223 (75-73-75) to place T-20 at the event. Free recorded nine birdies and finished tied for third in the field in par-3 average (2.92). Grace Curran followed and tied for 25th (77-73-74--224).
Emma Carpenter produced her best outing of the season, tying for 34th overall. The sophomore shaved strokes off of each round (77-76-73--226). Annabelle Ackroyd placed T-53 (79-78-73--230) and Grace Kellar rounded out the Gophers lineup (0-78-71--149). After being disqualified from the first round due to a scorecard error, Kellar came firing back and shot a one-under par third round.

They have trusted assistant coach Matt Higgins and I completely as we have transitioned, and it is so fun to watch them progress. We are having so much fun competing and repping the 'U'!"
