The San Jose Sharks selected Reedy in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher Hockey senior forward Scott Reedy has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the San Jose Sharks that will begin with the 2021-22 season. Reedy is expected to join the San Jose Barracuda, the team's top development affiliate in the American Hockey League on an Amateur Tryout for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.
A native of Prior Lake, Minn., Reedy skated in 132 career games over his four-year career at Minnesota while scoring 77 points (40 goals, 37 assists).
One of three Gophers finalists still in the running for this year's Senior CLASS Award, Reedy closed out his college career with his best season in 2020-21, averaging a point a game and finishing tied for third on the team in scoring with 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) in 28 games. The USA Hockey National Team Development Program product recorded new career highs for points, assists, plus/minus (+20), power-play goals (four) and game-winning goals (six) as a senior.
The Gophers were 11-0-0 when Reedy scored this season and 16-2-0 when he tallied a point. The forward is currently tied for the NCAA lead with six game-winning goals while he factored into the deciding goal 10 times this season. Reedy led Minnesota in power-play goals, game-winning goals and plus/minus while sharing the team lead for assists. He tied the program record with five assists in a 10-0 win over Arizona State on Jan. 21, 2021 (a performance that also stands as his career high for single-game assists and single-game points).
An Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection this season, Reedy helped Minnesota claim the 2021 Big Ten Men's Ice Hockey Tournament title and a No. 1 seed for the 2021 NCAA Division I Ice Hockey Championships. The Gophers earned their 38th NCAA tournament berth (tied with Michigan for most among all programs) while making their first national tournament appearance since 2017 and winning their first NCAA tournament game since 2014.
A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-time letter winner, Reedy helped Minnesota set a new program record with a 3.35 cumulative grade point average as a team in the fall of 2020, while the men's hockey team recorded a term grade point average of 3.46, which ranks second in program history after last spring's 3.64.
The San Jose Sharks selected Reedy in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, making the forward the highest Gophers product ever drafted by the organization.
