Battle Brings Scoring Ability to Gophers

Robbinsdale, Minn., native finished sixth in the A-10 in scoring last season
Minnesota native Jamison Battle is coming home to play for the Gophers.
The former prep standout and state champion at DeLaSalle played his first two collegiate seasons at George Washington, but will wear the Maroon and Gold next season in Williams Arena.
"Jamison is a tough, gritty, competitive and skilled player who embodies all that we look for in a student-athlete," said head coach Ben Johnson. "He's a two-way player who can score, rebound and defend, and I am excited to welcome him back to Minnesota. Jamison is a mature player who has played significant minutes of college basketball. He is an excellent shooter who can knock down the three and he makes his free throws. Jamison will be a terrific addition to our roster, and I look forward to working with him."
Battle started 45 of the 47 games he played in at George Washington and averaged 35.7 minutes per game, 13.5 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. His Colonial career really took off during the abbreviated 2020-21 season, one in which George Washington played only 17 games overall and eight conference games.
Battle started all 15 games he played in and averaged 36.5 minutes per game. The lefty from Robbinsdale, Minn., averaged 17.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game and was named All-Conference Third Team. He finished second on the team in scoring and was sixth in the conference.
Battle made 37-of-47 free throws and his .787 free percentage ranked 12th in the A-10. Battle ranked 24th in league play in 3-point field goal percentage (34-of-96 for .354 percent) and was tenth in 3-point field goals made (34). Battle can clean the glass too, as he placed 13th in the conference in defensive rebounds, averaging 4.8 per game
Battle was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team in 2019-20 after starting 30 of 32 games. He set a George Washington single-season record for 3-pointers made (89) and led the A-10 in made 3-pointers (89), 3-point attempts (243) and 3-pointers per game (2.8). Battle finished second on the team in points (11.8) and rebounds (5.2) per game, while shooting 39.9% from the field, 36.6% from three, and 84.6% from the free throw line.
He helped lead DeLaSalle to the Class 3A state title as a senior and scored 26 points in the championship game after pouring in 21 in the semifinal. Battle was named Second Team All-State after averaging 21.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and was a semifinalist for Mr. Basketball. Battle, who was an All-Academic honoree, helped DeLaSalle advance to the state semifinals as a junior.
