MINNEAPOLIS – Two members of the Minnesota men's golf team are in the top 20 following Saturday's opening two rounds of the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational at Pfau Golf Course in Bloomington, Ind.

Sophomore Harrison Arnold is tied for 12th and junior Lincoln Johnson is tied for 19th following 36 holes of play. Meanwhile, as a team, the Gophers sit seventh out of nine teams with a score of 608 (304-304), 40 shots over par. Michigan Stats has the lead through two rounds at 587, while Indiana (597) and Nebraska (599) round out the top three.

Michigan State's James Piot leads all individuals with an even-par 142 with the next closest golfers four shots behind him.

Making his stroke play debut this spring, Arnold posted the lowest total for Minnesota in round one with a 3-over-par 74 and then was one of four Gophers to shoot a 76 in round two. He had two birdies in his opening round and was even-par through 11 holes before a bogey on No. 15 and a double bogey on No. 17. He recorded pars on the final four holes though to finish his opening round in sixth place.

Arnold's second round featured four bogeys in his first seven holes, but he settled down with eight consecutive birdies that preceded a birdie on No. 1. Arnold was +5 for the round and is 8-over for the tournament with a 150.

Johnson went 76-76 to leave himself +10 with a 152. His opening round featured five bogeys and 13 pars to put him tied for 19th, while his second round was highlighted by consecutive birdies on holes 15 and 16.

Senior Angus Flanagan is one shot behind Johnson and tied for 24th with an 11-over 153 (77-76). He birdied his opening hole but was +3 at the turn then had a double bogey on No. 11. He did finish 1-under over his final three holes thanks to a birdie on No. 16 to find himself 23rd on the leaderboard. Flanagan had two more birdies in his second round.

Competing in the second tournament of his career, freshman Ben Warian trails Flanagan by a shot at +12 with a 154. Warian had two birdies on the day, one in his opening round of 78, and the other as part of his 76 in round two, which tied a season low. He was tied for 34th after round one and is currently tied for 32nd through two rounds.

Sophomore Connor Glynn is tied for 48th. He was tied with Flanagan for 23rd after an opening round 77 that was highlighted by a pair of birdies, but an 82 in the second round dropped him 25 spots.

The final round of the Hoosier Collegiate Invitational is set to take place Sunday morning. Minnesota will begin its day with Glynn teeing off at 8:55 a.m. CT and the remaining Gophers going off in 10-minute increments afterward.
