Gophers Set to Compete at the Indiana Spring Challenge

The University of Minnesota women's golf team is ready to travel to Sellersburg, Indiana to compete at the Indiana Spring Challenge on April 4-5. The two day, 54 hole event will take place at the Covered Bridge Golf Club, a 7,068 yard, par-72 course.
Minnesota's will send out a familiar lineup with Grace Curran and Joanne Free leading the way in addition to Emma Carpenter, Annabelle Ackroyd and Grace Kellar.
In the last time out, the Gophers had an impressive showing at the Briar's Creek Invitational where the team finished ninth overall. The 291 shot in the final round by the team was the program's best 18-hole score since the spring of 2019.
Free led the Gophers, shooting a 223 (75-73-75) to place T-20 at the event. Free recorded nine birdies and finished tied for third in the field in par-3 average (2.92). Curran followed and tied for 25th (77-73-74--224).
Carpenter produced her best outing of the season, tying for 34th overall. The sophomore shaved strokes off of each round (77-76-73--226). Ackroyd placed T-53 (79-78-73--230) and Kellar rounded out the Gophers lineup (0-78-71--149). After being disqualified from the first round due to a scorecard error, Kellar came firing back and shot a one-under par third round.
Joining Minnesota in the field is host Indiana along with Michigan State, Notre Dame and Wisconsin. The competition begins on Sunday, April 4th at 8:30 a.m. CT with 36 holes on Sunday. Play will resume on Monday with the final 18 holes.
