Minnesota Embarks on Final Road Trip of the Season Against #8 Ohio State/Penn State

The team heads back on the road following a week-long pause in the schedule.
The University of Minnesota women's tennis team (3-10) heads back on the road for the final time in the regular season. The team is scheduled to face #8 Ohio State on Friday, Apr. 9 at 11:00am and Penn State on Sunday, Apr. 11 at 9:00am.
Previous Match
Last weekend, the Gophers dropped both matches at Baseline Tennis Center. The team fell to #6 Northwestern 5-2 and Illinois 4-3.
Gopher sophomore Dalila Said secured her first ranked victory of the season against #65 Clarissa Hand of Northwestern. Freshman Rachel Hanford appeared in the ITA rankings for the second consecutive week, coming in at #79.
The Competition
#8 Ohio State (15-3) is on a seven match winning streak with a recent win over previously undefeated Michigan. The Buckeyes three losses this season have come against current top-20 opponents. The Buckeyes have one ranked player in singles - Irina Cantos Siemers (10) and two ranked pairs in doubles - Kolie Allen & Isabelle Boulais (62) and Irina Cantos Siemers & Luna Dormet (80). Irina Cantos Siemers is currently the highest-ranked player in singles in the Big Ten.
Penn State (8-6) is 3-1 in their last four matches. The Nittany Lions are ranked 6th in the Big Ten with all six losses coming against the top five teams in the Big Ten standings. The Gophers are looking for their first victory over Penn State since April of 2018.
