Senior pitcher Amber Fiser has been named one of 12 athletes selected to the Athletes Unlimited College Draft, announced today by the organization. It's the first-ever college draft and the second season of the Athletes Unlimited season. Fiser, who was announced fifth, was the only athlete selected from the Big Ten Conference.

Athletes Unlimited will hold its season from August 28 to September 27 at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois. During the first-ever Athletes Unlimited Softball College Draft, held on May 10, 2021 on Facebook, 12 college seniors, who were selected by already signed players, were invited to join the roster for season two. The league held its inaugural season in the Village of Rosemont in 2020 consisting of 30 games with 57 softball players from around the world. The Athletes Unlimited league plays for six straight weeks and the teams change weekly. The league has a unique scoring system where all players can win or lose points as individuals and as a team.

Fiser has made a name for herself at Minnesota. She ranks third in Minnesota program history with 95 career wins and fifth in strikeouts (923). She led the Big Ten and ranked third in the NCAA with 145 strikeouts during the shortened 2020 season. In 2019, she achieved First Team All-America honors, Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten. Named a Honda Cup Award Award finalist that year, she was also named a USA Softball Top-25 Player of the Year finalist. In her career, Fiser has thrown three no-hitters and tossed the program's sixth perfect game in 2018.

She's also excelled in the classroom earning COSIDA Academic All-America honors, a two-time COSIDA Academic All-District honoree and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Fiser earned a bachleor's degree in business and marketing education last year and will receive her master's degree in sports management this spring.

Minnesota closes out the regular season this weekend at Penn State, May 14-16.
