Gophers Post Record GPA

The athletic department recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.44, besting last fall’s mark of 3.41
MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota student-athletes combined to set a new school record for cumulative grade point average over the spring semester, according to information released today by the John & Nancy Lindahl Academic Center.
As a department, the University of Minnesota athletic department recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.44, besting last fall's mark of 3.41 for the school record. The Gophers have now increased the department's cumulative grade point average in seven-straight semesters.
The department also recorded a term grade point average of 3.51 for the spring semester – the third highest figure in school history after 3.65 in the spring of 2020 and a 3.55 in the fall of 2020.
Today's announcement is the latest academic achievement for the University of Minnesota. As a department, the 'U' set a new school record with 431 total Academic All-Big Ten accolades over the course of the 2020-21 academic year.
"The last year has certainly tested the dedication and resolve of our student-athletes and our staff, so to see everyone's efforts be rewarded in such an impressive manner is deeply rewarding," Lindahl Academic Center Director JT Bruett said. "On behalf of the University of Minnesota, the Gophers athletic department and the Lindahl Academic Center, we would like to congratulate all of our student-athletes on a job well done this semester and thank them for showcasing the strong commitment to academic excellence we have built here at the 'U'."
Academic Notes: Due to the distance learning adjustment this semester, students on the Twin Cities campus had the opportunity to change their grading basis once they received their final grade for a course. Many University of Minnesota students took this opportunity to change their grading basis for courses to a satisfactory/non-satisfactory grading basis, which does not impact their GPA.
