The pair of Gophers are now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors later this month.

MINNEAPOLIS – Gopher Baseball juniors Zack Raabe and Chase Stanke have been recognized as CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.

Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution in order to be nominated. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with winners announced later this month.

A native of Forest Lake, Minn., Raabe earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors for the Gophers in 2021. In 36 games this year, the junior infielder led Minnesota in batting average (.315), runs (18), hits (39), slugging percentage (.532), walks (20) and on-base percentage (.407). Defensively, the second baseman holds a .992 field percentage with just one error on the year while leading the 'U' with 85 assists. A 2020 Collegiate Baseball Second Team All-America pick and a 2021 preseason All-America selection, Raabe was named to this season's USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List – one of just  two Big Ten players to make the cut. A business and marketing education major, Raabe is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick, earning the accolade every year he has been eligible.

A native of Sugar Grove, Ill., Stanke was behind the plate for the Gophers in 36 games this season. The junior catcher finished second on the team in hits (34) and RBI (17) and third on the team in batting average (.272) and was named to the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List. A finance major, Stanke is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, earning both accolades every year he has been eligible.
